Star Files: T-65B X-wing Starfighter

Hello all!  As part of restarting this blog, I decided to start with a new entry: Star Files.  In this series, I will be going over various characters, technologies, and ships in Star Wars, and what better to start this series with the most iconic ship: the T-65B X-wing! (Important note: For this series, I will be focusing on the current canon version created by Disney)

Intro
The T-65B X-wing was created by the Incom Corporation, which was known for producing Clone Wars-era starfighters.  When the Empire came into power, the Emperor wanted a strong military that could keep order in the galaxy.  Because of this, the Incom Corporation was replaced by Seinar Fleet Systems, most known for their TIE series.  Because of this, engineers working on the T-65 defected to the Rebellion and helped them build these ships.  Being used by the Rebel Alliance and the New Republic, this ship saw a lot of action in it's lifetime, and it would be succeeded by the T-70 and T-85 X-wings.

Operational History
The T-65B X-wing began service as early as 1 BBY during the attack on Lothal.  They were used by various Rebel cells such as Saw Gerrera's Partisans.

The X-wing was also present at the first battle of the Galactic Civil War in 0 BBY: the Battle of Scariff.  Here, Red Squadron would protect the fleet while Blue Squadron would aid Rogue One on the ground providing aerial support and reinforcements.  Their help allowed Rogue One to transmit the Death Star plans to the Rebel fleet and resulted, though it resulted in the death of Blue Squadron and some of Red Squadron.  A few days later, Red Squadron would assault the Death Star and managed to destroy it.

The X-wings would continue to serve the Rebel Alliance on multiple missions during the Galactic Civil War including the Battle of Hoth and even the Battle of Endor before the Rebel Alliance became the New Republic.

When the New Republic was established in 5 ABY, there was still resistance from the Empire, who was now on the defensive.  The X-wing continued to serve the New Republic on various missions such as the Battle for Kuat Drive Yards, along with protecting Project Starhawk, a secret project that took parts from Imperial Star Destroyers and built a massive warship.  This can be seen in the most recent EA Star Wars title: Squadrons.  One year after the Battle of Endor, X-wings took part in the Battle of Jakku, which ended the war and resulted in the signing of the Galactic Concordance treaty.  The T-65B X-wing would continue to be used by the New Republic until they were succeeded by the T-70 and T-85 X-wings.

Systems and Armaments
The T-65B was efficient for multiple reasons.  For one, they possessed shields, which allowed them to take enemy fire much easier.  They also had a hyperdrive, making them ideal for hit-and-run attacks.  These features were nonexistent for their enemy, the TIE Fighter.  Because of this, the X-wing was able to overpower the TIEs and were considered more effective.  The X-wing was also equipped with S-foils to allow heat exhaust to escape much easier.  These S-foils would extend into an "x" position, hence its name.

The X-wing was also equipped with four laser cannons and proton torpedos, which Luke Skywalker used to destroy the Death Star.

Other Notable Versions
*B-class X-wing - Existed during the New Republic Era
*Patrol X-wing - Used for reconnaissance like its predecessor, the ARC-170 starfighter
*T-65C-A2 X-wing - An older model of the T-65B; at least one was used at the Battle of Scariff
*T-70 W-wing - Successor to the T-65B, later used by the Resistance to fight the First Order
*T-85 X-wing - Most current model and successor of the T-70

Update

Hello all!  I know I haven't posted in a while, but I'm hoping to get back into this.  When I created this blog, I was young and naïve.  But now, I'm hoping to make this more professional.  Not to mention a lot has happened since I last posted.  Since then, we've had the Last Jedi, Solo, and Rise of Skywalker come out.  Rebels ended and now the Mandalorian season 2 is about to come out.  So join me once again in experiencing the amazing series that is Star Wars.  Welcome back to Star Wars Central!

Star Wars: Rogue One Trailer

We finally got a new trailer for the upcoming standalone movie, Star Wars: Rogue One.  We also got some new glimpses of new characters and some new information as well.  For example, Darth Vader will be shown in his prime.  It is said that he will be engaging Rebel soldiers with his devastating red lightsaber.  I, for one, thought I would never see an original Stormtrooper in another Star War movie again, but Rogue One brings them back, and they look really good.  Not to mention the new Death Troopers.  Star Wars: Rogue One tells the story of how the rebels got a hold of the plans to the Death Star, as mentioned in Episode IV: A New Hope.  So, without further ado, here's the new Star Wars: Rogue One trailer:

(Sorry guys! It won't let me load the trailer on here, here's the link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wji-BZ0oCwg

Star Wars Canon Update

Recently, Lucasfilm has announced that all of the Expanded Universe (EU) content is now considered Non-Canon.  For those who aren't aware what Canon and Non-Canon is, Canon is when books, videogames, or movies actually happened in the series timeline.  Non-Canon is when something never actually happened in that series, which can result in a different plot line.  An example of this is the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed videogame series, which is indeed set in the Star Wars Universe, but is a different plot line, and never actually  happened in the main story line (movies).  Before Lucasfilm announced it, all Expanded Universe material was considered Canon.  The reason they changed this is because Lucasfilm wanted to create a new story.  This way, people wouldn't already know what to expect in the Sequel Trilogy, which is set in the same time as the Expanded Universe (after Episode 6).

According to Wikipedia: "The official Star Wars canon consists of the seven released Star Wars theatrical feature films, the Star Wars animated film and television series The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels, and any other material released after April 25, 2014, unless otherwise stated"(Wikipedia).

If you want to know more about what is Non-Canon and what is Canon, check out either Wikipedia, or Wookieepedia, The Star Wars Wiki.

Star Wars Monthly News and Important Announcement

Star Wars: The Force Awakens finally came out last Friday, and many Star wars Fans can't get enough of it.  Sure, there were a few sad moments, and some irritating moments, but it was by far a very good movie.  Disney also announced that they will also be making standalone films, which will release a year in between the main movies.  The first standalone Star Wars film will be Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which is set between Episode 3 and Episode 4, and is about a group of rebel pilots who discover the plans of the Empire's newest weapon, the Death Star.  This is only one of the many upcoming standalone Star Wars movies, with a standalone movie about Han Solo sometime in 2018 (between Episode's 8 [2017] and 9 [2019]), and a Boba Fett standalone movie sometime 2020.  Although these are the only standalone movies announced at the moment, there is no doubt Lucasfilm will make more of these.

I also want to take your time real quick to tell you all something.  The Prequel Trilogy is not that bad!  I know a lot of you don't like the Prequel Trilogy, but if you ignore Jar Jar, and the CGI, and other things, its not that bad.  The purpose of a prequel film is to explain what happened before the first movie and explains what happened would have caused the issue in the first movie.  It also shows how cool minor characters from the original movie were in their prime, for example: Obi-wan Kenobi, who was old in the Original Trilogy, but was awesome in the Prequel Trilogy. It also explains what the characters are talking about if they are mentioning something important from the past, again, like how Obi-wan mentioned the Clone Wars in A New Hope.  Some fans could have been wondering what the Clone Wars was, so the prequels help explain that. The prequels also showed how Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader, and how the Jedi Order was destroyed and how the Empire came to be.  I know some people don't like the Prequel Trilogy, but with a new Star Wars Trilogy arriving, I thought it was about time to tell you guys this.  So please, accept the prequels so we can stop this fighting, or at least not make fun of people who do like them.  Because all of these movies are part of something amazing, Star Wars.  Until next time, May the force be with you!

Star Wars Battlefront Review

Since Star Wars Battlefront is finally here, I decided to write a review for you guys so you know whats good about the game and the issues it has.  Enjoy!

Star Wars Battlefront is a good, game.  It has great graphics, multiple modes from trying to destroy or protect an At-At, to going around a map guns blazing.  Now, even though Star Wars Battlefront has its good side, it also as a bad side.  As I was playing, I keep freezing due to the bad server connection, and its not on my end.  I don't know about you guys, but that can get really annoying when your trying to play the game.  Now, this may not happen to everyone, but some people, not just me, have this problem, and its very annoying.  Sadly, EA is still giving us any word on if they're working on this issue, and if it isn't fixed, then a lot of fans will not get the full Star Wars experience that they deserve.  Now, beside this frustrating issue, Star Wars Battlefront is still fun to play.  You can customize your character and load outs, and the battles are very amazing, like you were actually participating at that battle in the movies.  You can play as Darth Vader, the Emperor, and Boba Fett for the enemies, and Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo for the heroes.  There is also a mode called "Fighter Squadron", where you fly through the skies dog fighting enemy ships.  You get the X-wing, A-wing, and the Snowspeeder (only on certain maps) for the heroes, and the TIE fighter and TIE interceptor for the villains.  You also get to play as the Millennium Falcon and Boba Fett's Slave I as hero/villain ships.

Star Wars Battlefront is a good game, but due to its annoying and frustrating bad server connection issue, it gets a 7.5/10.  Now, I am willing to change it once EA decides to fix the bug, but until then, the rating stays.  I would recommend the game, but, you should probably wait until they fix the bugs first, so that it gives you a better Star Wars experience.  Until next time, may the force be with you!
